L'Oreal Butterfly Intenza Waterproof Mascara Review

Best drugstore waterproof mascara 2015

Right before I left for my Punta Cana vacation, I bought L'Oreal's Butterfly Intenza Waterproof Mascara since I liked the original so much. I figured the waterproof version would be pretty much the same as the original, but maybe with less flaking. I didn't think it would blow my mind or anything, because with my little lashes, I'd long since given up on finding the perfect mascara. But that was before I tried this stuff...

Holy balls, my friends. I have finally found the mythical Mascara Holy Grail for short lashes. It lives! It exists! And it's a waterproof drugstore mascara under $10. It does absolutely everything I've always wanted a mascara to do. Not only does the waterproof Butterfly Intenza define every single lash while lengthening and volumizing, but it also retains curl like a dream. All. Day. Long. And all night long. On top of all that, it doesn't flake or clump during applications. I was able to do multiple coats with no problems. Oh, and did I mention it's waterproof?

Now, when I say it's waterproof, I don't mean I tested it by getting lightly rained on or something. Oh no. I frolicked in the ocean for hours with this mascara. I rinsed my face off in a rainshower, and I sweated exactly how you'd expect a Minnesotan to sweat in the Dominican Republic. It looked great through it all!  It is, hands down, the most incredible mascara I have ever tried. It also wound up being the only makeup I wore after day 2 in Punta Cana, because it was as humid as a damn rainforest and my makeup noped the fuck right off my face every time I tried to make an effort.

In case you think this is all too good to be true, here are some before and afters, taken this afternoon:

After: LASHES!
Based on the amount of redness, pores, and freckles, you can see these pics aren't retouched in any way. I used a lash curler, as always, and only 1 coat of mascara. My lashes look so long! I'm obsessed. Usually, I only get that kind of length with falsies, so I can't imagine how great this mascara would be for people with actual lashes. It's as close to perfect as a mascara will ever be for me, and I can't recommend it enough!

Rated Beauty Grade: A+++

Price: $8.99 at Ulta and pretty much every drugstore out there.
