Cosmetics Review: NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna

The Product: NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna

The Review: Much like NARS' Blush in Orgasm, this bronzer also has a cult following. Since I love the blush so much and it comes in cute combo duos and highlighting trios with Laguna, I wanted to get all up on this bronzer and become one with the cult. Sadly, after trying it, I don't have the urge to place it on a pedestal in my bedroom's makeup shrine.

The good: Laguna is made with high quality powder. It's incredibly fine, so it goes on smoothly and blends easily. In theory, you should need much of it. Also, this color has no reddish tones, so it won't make you look orangey. It's also pretty matte. Perfect for those of you who aren't fans of the shimmer.

The bad: I don't get the hype with the color. Good lord. Everyone is all, "OMG! Best bronzer EVER!," but when I put it on, I literally could not tell I had anything on. So I put on more, and it just looked like I had extra powder on my cheeks. So not impressed. It's not like I have really tan skin (I'm actually quite pale for a semi-native chick).  It's not like I want to have super dark cheeks. I mean, I sure as hell can't use my Clinique Sunkist Bronzer for contouring, but I like it just fine. Also, when you look at Laguna in the compact, it looks darker than just about any bronzer you can find. So why doesn't this color exist on my face? Lame.

The verdict: This is a good quality bronzer, but the color is better suited to someone who doesn't have much color to their skin. Fair-skinned girls, this bronzer is for you! Even though it doesn't look like it, because the product is misleadingly sheer. In the compact, it looks dark enough to be a contouring bronzer. This feels a little like false advertising to me, because if you're already tan or have darker skin, this stuff won't look as impressive as you'd expect it to. However, if you're addicted to the delightful texture of NARS blushes, quite a few people have said that the bronzer in Casino is a better option for people who think Laguna is too pale. I haven't tried it yet, but when I do, I'll let you know.
