Cosmetics Review: The Body Shop's Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick

The ProductThe Body Shop's Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick

The Review: I am a lip balm ADDICT. I think I have about 7 different kinds in my purse right now, and I could probably write a whole blog reviewing lip balms alone. I can't stand to have bare, dry lips. It irks me. It's like the physical equivalent to nails on a chalkboard, so I have to have multiple lip balms on me at all times in case the dreaded dry-lip-feeling occurs. This lip balm has been pretty much my favorite since I discovered it in high school, oh... almost 10 years ago? I took a couple year hiatus from it believing that I could find something better. Well, guess what? I can't, and I am pleased to say that it is back in my make up arsenal and in my purse where it belongs. I could wax euphoric about this lip balm all day, but for the sake of your eyeballs, I will try to keep the rantings to a minimum.

In my opinion, this is what all lip balms should aspire to be. The texture is smooth, rich, and creamy without the slightest hint of greasiness or stickiness. It gives your lips a hint of shine, lasts forever, and is great under lipstick. Flavor-wise, there really isn't one, but there is a slight hint of sweetness. And the smell. Oh god, the delicious smell! It smells a cup of hot chocolate, I kid you not. Just... not as drinkable and on your lips. Add the incredible moisturizing and lip-softening abilities of cocoa butter, and you have my recipe for the perfect lip balm. I'm wearing some right now, actually. Oh, delightful cocoa butter lip care stick. How did I think I could ever live without you? I will love you forever.

It does have one tiny, itsy bitsy flaw: It doesn't have SPF. But I will overlook that any day.

  1. I can't live without lip balm either. I buy at 2-4 tubes of my favorite lip balms and lip glosses because I am paranoid about losing them or being without them. I put on lip balm before going to bed, it does wonders!

  2. Me too!!! I actually put it on before bed and then smooth a layer of C.O. Bigelow's My Favorite Night Balm. It leaves my lips feeling so insanely soft in the morning!
